Business Development Manager

About the role
The Business Development Manager will consult, advise and present alternatives to marketing managers, identify new business opportunities, and design, develop and execute direct marketing and lead campaigns for Old Mutual.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure internal systems and work processes operate effectively.
- Direct marketing, sales and promotion of products and services in designated market segments.
- Collaborate with business units to develop plans and strategies to meet sales and profit targets.
- Lead market research, product planning and advertising activities.
- Deliver education, training, presentations and proposals related to core business.
- Manage monthly reporting and reconciliation processes.
- Handle customer queries and escalations.
- Maintain and grow existing client relationships.
- Build and manage a pipeline of new business opportunities.
- Drive stakeholder campaigns for existing and prospective clients.
- Maximise commercial value of institutional client relationships across OMIGNAM capabilities.
- Identify opportunities across the client value chain, including liquidity solutions, long‑term investments and alternative assets.
- Cross‑sell and integrate multiple investment solutions within each client relationship.
- Originate, structure and convert large institutional mandates across pension funds, corporates, banks and development finance institutions.
- Lead end‑to‑end deal processes from identification to funding and implementation.
- Engage senior stakeholders such as boards, trustees, investment committees and executive management.
- Position OMIGNAM as a strategic investment partner through advisory‑led engagement.
Required profile
- Relevant Honours degree.
- 3‑5 years of financial and/or investment experience.
- Corporate/business relationship management experience.
- Asset management and retail experience (beneficial).
- Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills.
- Strong commercial judgement, strategic thinking and stakeholder influence.
- Highly motivated, self‑starter, well‑organized and able to work independently.
