Backend Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to design, develop and maintain scalable microservices. The role involves working with TypeScript and Node.js to build robust backend solutions and support the engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Manage infrastructure as code and oversee deployment workflows, including Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot and optimise distributed system challenges such as DNS resolution, service discovery, and inter‑service communication.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code while mentoring junior engineers.
• Participate in a weekly on‑call rotation for production support.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in backend or platform engineering.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS and TCP/IP.
• Experience with containerisation technologies, particularly Docker.
• Familiarity with distributed‑systems concepts such as eventual consistency, CAP theorem and scalability.
• Proficiency working in Linux/Unix environments.
