About the role
The Associate Director for United Nations Advocacy will lead the development and implementation of advocacy strategies that represent IRC staff perspectives and advance the interests of the people we serve within the United Nations system.
Key responsibilities
- Design and execute advocacy plans targeting UN Secretariat agencies, including the Secretary‑General’s Office, OCHA, and the Department of Peacekeeping.
- Engage with UN Specialized Agencies, the ECOSOC Humanitarian Segment, the UN General Assembly’s Humanitarian Coordination pillar, and the UN Security Council to influence policy and practice.
- Collaborate with IRC program, strategy, communications, research and innovation teams to align advocacy efforts with field priorities.
- Monitor emerging global humanitarian needs and adjust advocacy tactics accordingly.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in international advocacy, policy influencing, or UN engagement.
- Strong understanding of humanitarian crises and the needs of displaced populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
