Youth Program Specialist

About the role

The Youth Program Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for refugee youth, delivering mentoring, advocacy, and case management to help them succeed academically, emotionally, and socially. Working under the Youth Program Supervisor, the specialist conducts assessments, creates individualized service plans, and connects youth with essential resources.

Key responsibilities

• Visit a caseload of 12‑15 youth clients in their homes (evenings during the academic year, business hours in summer) to provide direct support.
• Conduct intake assessments and develop personalized service plans.
• Provide ongoing mentoring, psychosocial support, and advocacy.
• Engage caregivers through phone calls, home visits, and guidance on using parent portals.
• Screen for emotional distress and refer to the Mental Health Department as needed.
• Track academic performance, attendance, and connect students to counselors, tutoring, extracurricular activities, and other resources.
• Collaborate with external organizations and internal departments to expand service options.
