Youth and Education Intern

About the role

The Youth and Education Intern will work closely with the Youth and Education Specialist and the broader Education team to help newly arrived refugee families enroll their children in school. This hands‑on role involves direct interaction with families, logistical support for first‑day school orientation, and general assistance to youth programs.

Key responsibilities

• Contact newly arrived families to schedule education appointments.
• Collect required documents and complete school enrollment applications for refugee students.
• Provide walking and bus orientation for students on their first day of school and coordinate logistics with the Education team.
• Build positive relationships with refugee youth and create a supportive environment.
• Assemble school backpacks with supplies for new students.
• Assist with client transportation to appointments as needed.
• Support monthly office duties and reception coverage.

Required profile

• Outgoing, independent, and able to manage tasks efficiently.
• Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance.
• Successful completion of IRC background check.
• Commitment to the full 3‑month internship term (minimum 10 hours per week).
• Availability for early‑morning appointments (around 7:00 am) for first‑day logistics.
