Temporary Fixed Term Assistant Accountant – Assessment Rates & Taxes

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant on a temporary fixed‑term contract to supervise the non‑metered Sub‑Sub Section that covers assessment rates, sewer, waste management and refuse. The role supports the finance function by ensuring accurate tax assessments and compliance within this specialised area.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the assessment rates process for the designated non‑metered sector.
• Monitor and verify tax calculations related to sewer, waste management and refuse services.
• Prepare and review accounting entries and reports associated with assessment rates.
• Coordinate with internal departments to ensure data accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Assist in the preparation of periodic financial statements and tax filings for the sector.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting or finance qualification.
• Experience in tax assessment or public‑sector accounting.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently on a temporary contract.
