Underwriter – Specialist Solutions (Windhoek, Namibia)

About the role

Santam Namibia is seeking an Underwriter for its Specialist Solutions department in Windhoek. The role provides technical underwriting and reinsurance support to sales and intermediaries, focusing on growth, profitability and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and issue policies on the Santam underwriting platform.
• Process documentation accurately and place reinsurance when required.
• Prepare policy documents for signature by the Head of Specialist Solutions.
• Complete renewal reviews in line with underwriting and reinsurance guidelines.
• Manage the Namfisa dispensation process and ensure compliance with legislation and regulatory changes.
• Resolve escalated customer queries and complaints, providing clear communication.
• Perform daily operational underwriting tasks and adhere to standard operating procedures and service levels.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with key staff and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum of 22 points in Grade 11 (new curriculum) or Grade 12 (old curriculum).
• NQF4 Short Term Insurance Qualification and/or a degree, preferably in business or finance.
• 3–5 years of underwriting experience; reinsurance experience is an advantage.
• Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the Namibia Qualification Authority.
