Technical Learning Facilitator – Operations Trainer

About the role

The incumbent will serve as Namport’s Operations Trainer, delivering ongoing training for new and existing Mechanical Lifting Equipment Operators. The role ensures safe and efficient equipment use through classroom, practical and hands‑on sessions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify training needs in consultation with line management and evaluate existing interventions.
• Develop and update training manuals, learning materials and assessment tools.
• Plan and facilitate initial and refresher programmes for operations staff, covering cargo handling and mechanical lifting equipment.
• Assess trainee competency through demonstrations, tests and performance evaluations, issuing certificates where appropriate.
• Monitor the impact of training, compile statistics and maintain accurate records in line with SHREQ, ISO 14001 and other regulations.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a Higher Certificate in Occupationally Directed Education, Training and Development Practices (or equivalent).
• Facilitator, Assessor and Moderation certifications.
• Minimum five years’ direct experience operating machinery and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, handling multiple priorities.
• Valid CE driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Facilitation and assessment skills for technical training.
• Operational competency with port equipment (Categories 1‑5 preferred).
