Team Leader – NARAF Death Claims

About the role

The Team Leader will oversee the end‑to‑end administration of NARAF and Section 37C death claims, ensuring accurate, fair and timely processing in line with legislation and fund rules. This senior position involves managing a high‑performing claims team, liaising with trustees, beneficiaries and external partners, and driving continuous improvement across the claims function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the investigation, assessment, adjudication and distribution of death benefits, ensuring compliance with the Pension Funds Act and Section 37C.
• Oversee beneficiary identification, tracing and verification, coordinating with tracing agents and legal service providers.
• Monitor claim turnaround times, service levels and customer outcomes, and resolve complex operational, legal and customer issues.
• Produce regular management reports, analyse performance data, and drive automation and efficiency initiatives.
• Build, coach and develop the claims team, handling performance management, succession planning and capability building.

Required profile

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce, Business Management, Finance, Insurance, Pension Fund Administration or related field.
• Strong understanding of the Pension Funds Act, retirement fund administration and employee benefits.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage stakeholder relationships and ensure regulatory compliance.
