Site Manager – Mining Waste Operations (Husab)

About the role

The Site Manager will lead the overall management of the Husab mining project, overseeing waste operations, health and safety, logistics and financial performance to meet project targets.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily waste operations, ensuring efficient resource use and compliance with regulations and client environmental plans.
• Maintain fleet and equipment, addressing mechanical issues promptly.
• Conduct risk assessments, oversee security services and manage electronic time‑tracking.
• Implement and monitor health and safety programs specific to mining.
• Oversee fleet logistics, handling hazardous waste safely.
• Handle budgeting, expense control and capital asset tracking on site.
• Assist strategic planning and identify growth opportunities for waste management.
• Serve as primary client contact, preparing reports and stakeholder updates.
• Ensure waste management practices comply with environmental regulations and promote sustainability.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with at least 3 years experience in waste or general environmental management.
• Diploma/B‑Tech/Bachelor’s degree in Waste Management, Environmental Health Science, Engineering or related field (minimum NQF Level 6).
• Experience with ISO and NOSA (or similar SHE) performance standards.
• Hands‑on equipment operation experience.
• Proven leadership in production or operational environments within the waste management sector.
• Strong client relationship and sales experience (advantageous).
• Recent police clearance, medical fitness and ability to meet physical demands of a mine site.
• Computer literacy and a Code B driver’s licence (advantageous).
