Sample Preparation Operator

About the role

The Sample Preparation Operator joins ALS to ensure that a wide variety of samples are accurately prepared for laboratory analysis. Working in a fast‑paced environment, the operator follows strict quality standards and safety procedures to support scientific testing and data‑driven insights.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, pack, label, seal, size and weigh samples according to established procedures.
• Record all sampling and inspection data, including forms and photographic evidence where required.
• Maintain compliance with ALS health‑and‑safety standards, company policies, ISO 9001 quality protocols and local legislation.
• Support internal and external audits for the region.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and multicultural team members.

Required profile

• Matric (National Senior Certificate) or higher.
• 6 months to 1 year of relevant sampling experience.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and multitask.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Reliability, willingness to work overtime and minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of sampling and sample‑preparation techniques.
• Familiarity with laboratory sample‑preparation equipment.
• Basic computer literacy.
