Personal Lines Underwriter

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Personal Lines Underwriter to support its insurance portfolio. The role combines clerical efficiency with underwriting insight to ensure profitable business and high‑quality service for personal insurance customers.

Key responsibilities

• Retain and grow profitable personal lines business.
• Perform administrative tasks including answering calls, processing transactions, filing and document preparation.
• Ensure all documentation is accurately issued, checked and authorized before dispatch.
• Maintain service quality and compliance with tactical policies, procedures and standards.
• Resolve escalated customer queries and complaints, providing timely feedback.
• Complete policy renewals within required timeframes.

Required profile

• NQF Level 7 tertiary qualification (degree, advanced diploma or postgraduate certificate).
• 1‑2 years of experience in the insurance industry.
• Strong written and spoken communication in English and Afrikaans.
• Client‑oriented with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively and embrace OMSIC values.
• Technical underwriting knowledge is an advantage.
