Manager, Credit Origination

About the role

Standard Bank Group is looking for a Manager, Credit Origination to provide subject matter expertise and apply specialist deal structuring knowledge in preparing and submitting quality credit applications. The role leads a positive and seamless client credit experience, supports Relationship Managers and Service Teams in concluding new transactions on time, and helps meet performance metrics.

Key responsibilities

• Perform desktop and market research on potential clients, competitors, industry trends, opportunities and threats, and present findings to stakeholders to influence decisions.
• Prepare and submit quality credit applications, applying specialist deal structuring knowledge to conclude new transactions timely.
• Conduct thorough financial analysis to assess credit repayment ability and creditworthiness, test the transactional model and apply appropriate stresses.
• Stay up to date with industry regulations and compliance requirements, attend industry workshops and seminars, and present legislative changes to business stakeholders.
• Identify risks and mitigants in transactions and advise customers on credit application options and terms.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Commerce degree in Quantitative Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Finance or a related field; completed articles are advantageous.
• 3-5 years of experience in general banking, including products and processes.
• Experience in credit risk analysis and preparing credit papers for Enterprise Direct clients, with emphasis on simplifying credit scoring and digitising cash-flow and leverage analysis.
• Sound knowledge of credit and compliance matters.
