Head of Group Internal Audit

About the role

The Head of Group Internal Audit will lead Old Mutual Namibia’s internal audit function, providing independent assurance and advisory services across the group. Reporting to the Board Audit Committee and senior management, the role ensures governance, risk management and internal controls are robust and aligned with the company’s strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the internal audit function for the Old Mutual Namibia Group, ensuring independence and objectivity.
• Develop and execute an annual risk‑based audit plan that supports the group’s strategic objectives.
• Provide assurance and advisory services to the Board Audit Committee, Executive Management and regulators.
• Lead and mentor audit teams, fostering a culture of high performance and professional development.
• Engage with executive committees, board members and external auditors on audit findings and recommendations.
• Oversee outsourced audit providers and specialist assurance service providers.
• Conduct governance reviews, risk assessments and assurance programmes across life insurance, short‑term insurance, lending, asset management and investment activities.

Required profile

• Namibian citizenship.
• Bachelor’s degree in Internal Audit, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Risk Management or related field (NQF Level 7).
• Professional certification such as CA, CIA, CISA, CRMA or equivalent.
• 8‑10 years of relevant audit experience in financial services, with at least 5 years in a management role.
• Proven experience interacting with Board Audit Committees, senior executives and regulators.
• Strong knowledge of the financial services industry, including insurance, lending and investment sectors.
