About the role
The EU Delegation to Namibia offers a six‑month funded traineeship in the Press, Political and Information Section, starting tentatively in September 2026. The position focuses on digital communication, media engagement and promoting EU green‑diplomacy initiatives to Namibian audiences.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Delegation’s social‑media channels: plan, draft, publish and monitor content.
- Create digital assets, including graphics and short‑form videos, to highlight EU policies and the “Trees for Tomorrow” green‑diplomacy campaign.
- Assist in organising and covering public‑diplomacy and media events, preparing communication materials and on‑site reporting.
- Develop and implement communication campaigns aligned with EU priorities.
- Draft press releases, web articles, speeches and talking points.
- Conduct targeted research to ensure relevance of communication outputs to the Namibian context.
- Contribute to EU coordination tasks and political reporting as needed.
Required profile
- University degree (minimum bachelor’s) in Political Science, Communication, Journalism, Media Studies or a related field.
- Strong writing and storytelling abilities, adaptable to different audiences.
- Proven experience in social‑media management and digital content creation, including basic video production/editing.
- Good understanding of Namibian society, media landscape and current affairs.
- Interest or knowledge of environmental and climate‑related issues (green diplomacy).
- Ability to work independently and in a multicultural team.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Less than one year of professional experience after graduation.
