District Sales and Merchandising Manager

About the role

The District Sales and Merchandising Manager will lead sales activities across the assigned district for Vector Logistics, a temperature‑controlled supply chain partner in Southern Africa. Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, you will develop and execute sales strategies, grow the customer base and ensure seamless integration of logistics and merchandising solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the district sales strategy aligned with regional objectives.
• Generate leads, collaborate with the Regional Sales Manager and drive deal closure.
• Forecast sales volume and product demand, feeding data into regional and national planning.
• Monitor competitor activity and market trends to adjust tactics.
• Manage marketing initiatives and identify horizontal and vertical growth opportunities.
• Maintain and expand relationships with key customers, understand their operations and anticipate needs.
• Coordinate order taking, stock availability and resolve escalated customer issues.
• Drive achievement of sales budgets, control costs and oversee budget performance.
• Lead, train and motivate the district sales team to meet targets.

Required profile

• Proven experience in sales and merchandising within logistics, supply chain or food‑service environments.
• Strong track record of achieving sales targets and managing budgets.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with key accounts.
• Ability to analyse market data, forecast demand and adapt strategies.
• Leadership experience in managing a sales team.
