Crane Operator – Material Handling (Walvis Bay)

About the role

The company is seeking a qualified Crane Operator to join its Walvis Bay depot, supporting material handling operations at a mine site. The role involves operating, inspecting and maintaining a 60+ ton crane in a safe and efficient manner.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the crane and perform daily pre‑trip inspections.
• Clean the crane, sheaves and boom head each day.
• Ensure the crane remains level during operations.
• Collaborate with the rigger to verify appropriate crane size for each job and terrain.
• Execute lifting tasks safely according to work instructions.
• Report accidents or incidents immediately to the supervisor.
• Stop work under unsafe conditions and notify the site manager.
• Carry out minor electrical and mechanical repairs on the crane.

Required profile

• Namibian citizen with Grade 12 qualification.
• Valid crane operator’s card and a Class C1 driver’s licence.
• At least three years’ experience operating cranes of 60 tons or more.
• Ability to perform minor electrical and mechanical repairs.
• Good command of English and Afrikaans, both written and spoken.
• Excellent eyesight, problem‑solving ability and high attention to detail.
• Recent police clearance (not older than three months).
