Communications Officer – METAL (Measurement, Evaluation, Technology, Accountability & Learning)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Communications Officer to lead a short‑term initiative that strengthens and unifies communications, knowledge management, and learning across its METAL unit. This role will design a clear communications strategy, revamp the internal knowledge hub, and boost the external visibility of IRC’s data‑driven programs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for the METAL unit.
• Redesign and restructure METAL’s internal RescueNet pages into an intuitive knowledge hub.
• Create and curate high‑quality content for internal and external audiences, including donors, staff, and sector partners.
• Coordinate with global program teams to ensure consistent messaging and knowledge sharing.
• Facilitate learning sessions, webinars, and knowledge‑exchange events.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of communications activities and adjust tactics accordingly.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communications, knowledge management, or related fields within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to translate technical data into clear narratives.
• Experience working in a global, multi‑disciplinary environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
