Collections Manager

About the role

The Collections Manager leads the debt recovery function, ensuring maximum recovery of non‑performing loans while aligning with Nedbank's strategic priorities. The role drives team performance, optimises collection processes and mitigates credit risk.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve financial targets by maximising debt collection and reporting portfolio performance to the Board and Credit committees.
• Optimise collection costs through efficient use of internal resources and external service providers.
• Oversee repossessions, auctioning and other recovery actions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory directives, legal legislation and internal governance policies.
• Monitor productivity, set efficiency targets and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide regular updates to department heads and governance bodies.
• Develop and retain a high‑performing team through talent conversations, talent‑grid principles and rotation programmes.
• Contribute to departmental strategy, culture initiatives and action plans derived from culture surveys.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Commerce (Cost and Accounting) or Law degree.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in collections, credit risk or related banking functions.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to meet collection targets.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on risk reduction and cost efficiency.
• Excellent stakeholder management with internal and external partners.
