Assistant Diesel Mechanic – Walvis Bay

About the role

Wesbank Transport, a division of FP du Toit Transport, is looking for an Assistant Diesel Mechanic to join its team in Walvis Bay. The role involves servicing and repairing a range of transport equipment, supporting the maintenance department in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform service and repairs on reach stackers and other transport equipment.
• Carry out general duties in line with the responsibilities and scope of an Assistant Diesel Mechanic.

Required profile

• Namibian citizen with Grade 12 qualification.
• Minimum five years’ experience as a diesel mechanic in the transport or automotive industry.
• Excellent knowledge of equipment such as Mercedes Benz Actros trucks, Steelbro side loaders, Kalmar machines and Cone Crane reach stackers.
• Valid police clearance certificate not older than three months.
• Sober habits and open‑minded attitude.
• Computer literate with good diagnostic skills, able to work under pressure and as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of supervising and guiding others.
• Ability to cope with a demanding work environment and knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Mercedes Benz Actros trucks.
• Familiarity with Steelbro side loaders.
• Proficiency in operating Kalmar equipment.
• Knowledge of Cone Crane reach stackers.
• Diagnostic equipment usage and maintenance software.
