Site Supervisor

About the role

The Site Supervisor oversees daily operations at a waste‑management site, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with legal and company standards. This role coordinates teams, resources, and fleet assets to deliver high productivity, quality, and environmental stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day operational activities, prepare work rosters and allocate tasks.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure clear communication of responsibilities.
• Maintain full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations; manage safety inspections, risk assessments and improvements.
• Forecast and schedule resource needs, oversee fleet maintenance and control associated costs.
• Lead, mentor and evaluate site workers, fostering a positive work environment.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on performance, safety incidents and operational challenges to senior management.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with at least 1 year experience in waste or general environmental management.
• Diploma, B‑Tech or Bachelor’s degree in Waste Management, Environmental Health Science, Management, Public Health, Engineering or related field (minimum NQF 6).
• Experience with ISO and NOSA safety standards is an advantage.
• Advanced computer literacy and a valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO standards for safety and environmental management.
• Familiarity with NOSA (National Occupational Safety Act) compliance.
• Fleet management and resource planning.
• Proficiency in computer applications for reporting and scheduling.
