Consultant – AI Powered Chatbot Advisor and Designer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee seeks a consultant to advise and design its AI‑powered Family Corner chatbot, an Arabic‑first tool that delivers early childhood development content to caregivers. The role focuses on improving user experience, content structuring, technical robustness, and scalability for users with low digital and reading literacy.

Key responsibilities

• Review existing resource and reference materials from Vroom and Ahlan Simsim that will feed the chatbot.
• Develop a high‑level ideal user‑experience model to serve as a design reference.
• Propose concrete improvements to conversation flows, menu structures, prompts, interaction patterns, and features that support low‑literacy users (e.g., audio, simplified choices, progressive disclosure).
• Advise on organization, tagging, and surfacing of content to enhance comprehension and technical efficiency.
• Assess current technologies, platforms, and integrations for performance, maintainability, scalability, and suitability.
• Support the design of user‑testing sessions, including objectives, participant profiles, scenarios, and success criteria.
• Suggest refinements or alternative approaches to improve the chatbot’s agents and overall architecture.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in chatbot design, user‑experience research, and AI‑driven conversational systems.
• Strong familiarity with Arabic language content and cultural considerations.
• Experience creating solutions for users with low digital or reading literacy.
• Analytical mindset to evaluate technical platforms and propose scalable improvements.
