Technical Specialist (OMAO)

About the role

The Technical Specialist (OMAO) will support Old Mutual’s commercial lines portfolio, ensuring compliance, driving growth, and delivering high‑quality service to internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with internal and external service standards and meet SLA turnaround times.
• Drive growth of the direct channel, achieve revenue and new‑business targets, and maintain high renewal retention rates.
• Deliver on portfolio performance metrics, including PAR and claims loss ratio.
• Manage and grow the Commercial Lines policy portfolio while providing high‑quality customer service.
• Conduct quality control through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Maintain and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure full regulatory and legislative compliance, avoiding breaches or fines.
• Uphold underwriting standards in line with company policies.
• Provide technical support and on‑the‑job training to internal teams.
• Demonstrate strong leadership aligned with organisational values and support culture‑transformation initiatives.

Required profile

• Namibian citizenship.
• NQF Level 7 tertiary qualification – LLB degree.
• Minimum 6 years legal experience, with at least 1‑2 years in an insurance environment.
• Detail‑oriented, high energy, and able to work under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, customer‑service and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong time‑management, independent initiative, and team‑player attitude.
• Proven ability to manage a team to achieve financial and service targets.
