About the role
The Financial Controller will lead the finance controlling, reporting and planning function for the affiliate operating in Namibia’s petroleum sector. The role acts as the primary liaison with the Ministry of Finance and ensures accurate tax, subsidy and regulatory compliance while providing insightful financial analysis to support business decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate submission and payment of all taxes, maintain proper documentation, and act as the Ministry of Finance contact.
- Manage road subsidy claims, price adjustments and the fixed‑asset register.
- Participate in monthly RES and annual result studies, providing market trend analysis.
- Post journal entries, accruals and validate buy/sell reconciliations and transport invoices.
- Ensure timely filing of tax returns, road subsidy claims, fuel levy refunds and import VAT reports.
- Verify sales, CAPEX, OPEX and income data; support the annual budgeting process and prepare monthly business reviews and KPI reports for the Board.
- Analyse PCA reporting, set targets and action plans, and assist in KPC and IEC preparation.
- Contribute to information projects that impact financial statements and optimise technology use.
- Maintain professional relationships with management, staff and external auditors, and close audit findings.
- Ensure compliance with legal, financial and HSEQ regulations.
Required profile
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or IT.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, including management exposure.
- Experience in the oil industry or related sectors and familiarity with marketing business processes.
- At least 2 years of experience preparing management reports and handling large budgets.
- Proven ability to work with specialist staff and support functions to achieve business outcomes.
Required skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of SAP modules (Template Light SD, G&S, MM & FICO).
- Exposure to PCA is advantageous.
