Controller – Imports & Exports (Freight Forwarding)

About the role

The Controller – Imports & Exports will oversee end‑to‑end shipment handling for a freight forwarding operation. You will ensure that all shipments are processed according to company policies, local legislation and client requirements while maintaining financial accuracy.

Key responsibilities

• Open shipment files, allocate numbers and secure landside, transport and third‑party rates.
• Validate pre‑alert documents, perform quality control and ensure complete documentation is passed to the clearing department.
• Gather cargo information, negotiate buying and selling rates and arrange shipping methods with clients and international offices.
• Monitor cargo arrival against bookings, track service performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Capture accruals, demurrage, detention and storage costs in the month of revenue recognition.
• Coordinate invoice preparation, verify bill of lading, HBL/AWB details against invoices and packing lists.
• Maintain timely client communication regarding shipment status and provide assistance as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in freight forwarding, import/export operations or logistics control.
• Strong understanding of Incoterms and customs clearance procedures.
• Ability to manage documentation, rates and financial accruals accurately.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
