Mining Regulatory Liaison

About the role

The Mining Regulatory Liaison acts as the main point of contact between the company and Namibian government agencies throughout the mining lifecycle, from early exploration to closure. The role ensures timely and accurate submission of licences, permits and regulatory approvals while maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end applications for Exclusive Prospecting Licences, Mining Licences and Mineral Deposit Retention Licences under the Minerals (Prospecting and Mining) Act.
• Coordinate environmental clearance certificates, water use licences and other statutory approvals required before exploration and mining activities.
• Track licence renewals, variations, transfers and cessions, ensuring all deadlines and conditions are met.
• Prepare and submit documentation to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Environmental Commissioner and other relevant agencies.
• Serve as primary liaison with the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, Ministry of Agriculture and other line ministries.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with national and regional government officials to facilitate timely processing.
• Attend meetings, hearings and regulatory consultations on behalf of the company and prepare briefings.
• Support the preparation and submission of Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Management Plans.
• Coordinate community consultation processes, benefit‑sharing arrangements and free, prior and informed consent negotiations.
• Maintain a comprehensive regulatory compliance register covering all licences, permits and associated conditions.
