Technician – Heavy Diesel & Machinery Overhaul

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Technician to perform heavy diesel engine and machinery overhauls, execute preventative maintenance, and restore damaged assets to safe operational standards. The role involves hands‑on work in a workshop environment, ensuring precision and safety at every step.

Key responsibilities

• Complete structural teardown, cleaning, component mapping, replacement and precision re‑assembly of diesel blocks, multi‑gear transmissions, differential links and hydraulic pumps.
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance tasks such as fluid flushes, filter extractions, torque checks and valve adjustments to prevent component failure.
• Calibrate equipment using electronic data scanners and mechanical instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, pressure gauges, torque wrenches) according to OEM manuals.
• Document all work on job cards, recording hours, part serial numbers and ensuring accurate billing.
• Maintain a clean and safe workshop, isolate pressure systems and use appropriate PPE for welding, cutting and hot fluid drains.

Required profile

• Vocational Trade Diploma or Certified Journeyman licence in Automotive, Diesel or Industrial Heavy Machinery Mechanics.
• Minimum 3 years of field repair experience in heavy industrial, transport or mining environments.
• Physical agility, strong hand dexterity and strict adherence to safety procedures.
