Senior Engineering Technician

About the role

NamPower seeks two Senior Engineering Technicians to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of its backbone data transmission network. The role involves providing dedicated technical support for installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and fault‑finding of all network components.

Key responsibilities

• Perform physical installation of telecommunication and support equipment.
• Operate industry‑standard software on a personal computer for technical tasks.
• Carry out manual labour required to set up telecommunication systems.
• Plan and execute travel to field sites for on‑site work.
• Conduct fault‑finding on telecommunication and electric systems.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in Telecommunication or Electronic Engineering (NQF level 6).
• Minimum three years full‑time, hands‑on experience in a related technical environment.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of data transmission principles.
• Ability to perform fault‑finding on telecommunication and electric systems.
• Strong planning and scheduling capabilities.
• Good interpersonal skills.
