Sample Preparation Operator

About the role

The Sample Preparation Operator will join ALS at the Kombat site in Namibia, working within a 24/7 laboratory environment. The role involves preparing, logging, and moving samples for analysis while adhering to health, safety, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Train new staff on sample preparation tasks and monitor QC results.
• Log samples and track them in the GEMS system, escalating issues as needed.
• Prepare rejected samples for storage and adjust equipment settings (Jaw Crushers, Boyd crusher, LM2 Pulverisers).
• Maintain operation logs, QC data, and perform daily housekeeping.
• Assist with sample transportation, non‑sufficient sample tasks, and incident investigations.
• Operate forklifts or company vehicles when required.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education with a focus on Maths and Science (advantageous).
• Ability to work shifts, flexi‑hours, and under strict deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail, integrity, and communication skills.
• Willingness to follow ALS health, safety, and SOP standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the GEMS sample logging system.
• Forklift operation (appropriate licence).
• Operation of Jaw Crushers, Boyd crusher, and LM2 Pulverisers.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
