Resident Coordinator (Namibia)

About the role

The United Nations is seeking a Resident Coordinator for Namibia to lead the UN Country Team and oversee the implementation of the UN Cooperation Framework. Reporting directly to the Secretary‑General, the Resident Coordinator serves as the highest‑ranking UN development representative in the country, driving the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the United Nations at the highest governmental level and foster collaboration with civil society, bilateral and multilateral partners, academia and the private sector.
• Lead the development, monitoring and reporting of the UN Cooperation Framework in close consultation with the Namibian Government.
• Coordinate system‑wide UN support to ensure coherent, preventive and results‑oriented assistance across all UN agencies.
• Advocate for accelerated action on the Sustainable Development Goals and promote inclusive, poverty‑eradication strategies.
• Provide annual reports to the host Government on the implementation of the UN Cooperation Framework.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior development coordination or diplomatic roles within multilateral environments.
• Deep understanding of the UN system, the 2030 Agenda, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
• Proven ability to engage and negotiate with government officials, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and strategic planning capabilities, with a track record of managing large, diverse teams.
