Occupational Medical Practitioner – Fixed‑Term (5‑Year)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Medical Practitioner to lead the Occupational Health and Wellness function at Namdeb Hospital. The role combines specialist occupational health services with clinical support for hospital patients in a dynamic mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist occupational health services and ensure compliance with Namibian OHS legislation and SADC standards.
• Champion workplace health initiatives and design occupational medical surveillance programmes.
• Conduct workplace health risk assessments covering dust, noise, ergonomics and chemical hazards.
• Prevent and manage occupational injuries and illnesses, including clinical HIV management.
• Deliver clinical support and medical services to patients at Namdeb Hospital.

Required profile

• MBChB/MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognised by the Health Professions Council of Namibia.
• Post‑graduate Diploma or Fellowship in Occupational Medicine registrable with HPCNA.
• Minimum eight years of General Practice experience, including at least three years as an Occupational Medical Practitioner.
• Experience in mining‑related occupational health is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to develop and run occupational medical surveillance programmes.
• Competence in workplace health risk assessment methodologies.
• Clinical HIV management expertise.
