Head of Information Technology (IT Manager)

About the role

Lady Pohamba Private Hospital, a private acute-care hospital in Windhoek with more than 450 staff, is recruiting a Head of Information Technology. The hospital's technology is delivered through an outsourced model: a managed-service partner covers the data centre, infrastructure, information security and desktop support, while specialist providers supply the core applications. The role reports to the CEO and is the single accountability resource for technology, setting direction, holding providers to account and assuring the Executive Team and Board that clinical and corporate systems are available, secure and fit for purpose.

Key responsibilities

• Govern the managed-service partner and application providers (roadmaps, releases, support, renewals, licensing, contracts, data ownership and exit plans)
• Develop and present a three-year IT and digital strategy, roadmap and annual budget, and advise the CEO, Executive Team and Board
• Prepare and manage the IT operating and capital budgets, and track benefits realised
• Ensure availability, performance and support of clinical and corporate systems, networks and the service desk, and act as senior escalation point for major incidents
• Oversee provider-managed incident, problem, request, change, release, capacity and asset management, and approve changes affecting clinical systems
• Maintain registers of systems, integrations, licences, contracts, assets and service owners
• Lead information security, risk and compliance, including audits, remediation, incident response, GDPR and data protection compliance, and cyber insurance and penetration testing
• Set up a programme and project management office and oversee IT projects
• Lead, develop and set objectives for the in-house IT Support Engineer

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading IT functions in a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation, preferably in healthcare
• Proven track record of IT strategy and digital transformation
• Degree in computer science, information technology or a related field
• Professional certification in IT management (e.g. ITIL, PMP)
• Experience managing IT budgets and resources
