Financial Accountant – Reinsurance

About the role

The Financial Accountant – Reinsurance will provide specialist support for high‑volume reinsurance transactions, ensuring accurate recording, reconciliation and reporting. You will work closely with underwriting, actuarial and finance teams to deliver data‑driven insights that optimise reinsurance structures and improve working capital.

Key responsibilities

• Record, reconcile and report all reinsurance transactions in line with accounting standards.
• Monitor and manage reinsurance balances, recoverables, payables and treaty settlements.
• Enhance compliance with internal controls, audit requirements and statutory reporting.
• Track outstanding recoveries from reinsurers and ensure timely collection of claims and settlements.
• Provide management information on reinsurance performance, costs and profitability.
• Support statutory, regulatory and group reporting obligations.
• Conduct financial analysis of reinsurance arrangements, treaty performance and recoverability trends.
• Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial and finance teams to deliver data‑driven recommendations.
• Help optimise reinsurance structures from a financial perspective and improve working‑capital management.

Required profile

• Namibian citizenship.
• NQF Level 7 tertiary qualification in Finance and/or Accounting.
• Five (5) years of experience in reinsurance or financial reporting within the insurance industry.
• Chartered Accountant articles completed – advantageous.
• Strong numerical ability and capacity to work under pressure.
• Proactive, independent and able to provide strategic insight.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with data analysis and visualisation tools.
• Familiarity with Agile working environments.
