Exchange Control Specialist – Global Business

About the role

The Exchange Control Specialist provides expert advisory and operational support on cross‑border transaction regulations, ensuring compliance with Bank of Namibia (BON) rules. The role works within Global Business to facilitate complex exchange control applications and drive process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Advise stakeholders on exchange control requirements for cross‑border transactions and regulatory matters.
• Assist the Global Business manager with applications, regulatory submissions, and implementation of directives.
• Support relationship managers and frontline staff with technical guidance and regulatory interpretation on complex deals.
• Monitor regulatory developments, identify potential breaches, and help resolve audit, risk and compliance findings.
• Maintain effective relationships with internal teams, regulators and industry participants.
• Promote Global Business services through business development and stakeholder engagement.
• Lead digital automation projects to improve efficiency, client experience and control effectiveness.
• Identify and implement process improvements, operational efficiencies and control enhancements.
• Develop, review and maintain operational procedures, workflows and controls.
• Design and deliver training, coaching and knowledge‑sharing initiatives on exchange control.
• Communicate regulatory changes and emerging trends to relevant parties.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Banking, Law or related field.
• 7–10 years of banking experience, including at least 5 years in exchange control, trade finance or treasury.
• Relevant certifications in Trade Finance, Treasury Management or Foreign Exchange are an advantage.
