Engineering Manager – Underground Mining (Namibia)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function at a well‑established underground mining operation in Namibia. This senior leadership role is responsible for safe, reliable and cost‑effective management of all engineering, maintenance, reliability and asset management activities across the mine.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams covering Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines.
• Develop and implement engineering and maintenance strategies.
• Manage preventative, predictive and condition‑based maintenance programmes.
• Improve equipment availability, reliability and overall asset performance.
• Oversee underground mobile equipment, fixed plant and mine infrastructure.
• Drive reliability engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage engineering budgets, contractors and capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with mining legislation, engineering standards and safety requirements.
• Mentor and develop engineering teams while supporting operational production targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in the mining industry.
• At least 5 years in a senior engineering leadership role.
• Proven experience in underground mining operations and managing engineering and maintenance functions for underground mobile equipment and fixed plant.
• Strong knowledge of asset management, reliability engineering and maintenance planning.

Required skills

• Experience with CMMS/ERP systems (SAP PM, Pronto, Maximo, Ellipse or similar).
• Reliability‑Centred Maintenance (RCM) methodology.
• Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
• Asset lifecycle management.
