Data Scientist

About the role

FNB is looking for a Data Scientist to design, optimise and implement quantitative analytical methodologies that support business strategy. You will translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and help drive decision‑making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Build and implement innovative analytical solutions to solve complex business problems.
• Develop reusable analytics outputs such as dashboards, reports and insight packs.
• Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for business and client decision‑making.
• Communicate findings through reports and visualisations tailored for non‑technical stakeholders.
• Work iteratively, creating prototypes and refining solutions based on feedback.
• Apply data‑privacy, compliance and responsible data‑usage principles.
• Stay current with emerging tools, techniques and best practices in data science.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Econometrics, Physics or Actuarial Science.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in a data‑analytics environment.
• Intermediate proficiency in at least one of SAS, SQL, Python or R.
• Intermediate proficiency in data‑visualisation tools such as PowerBI or Tableau.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
