Utilities Operations Supervisor

About the role

The Utilities Operations Supervisor will lead the utilities team in ensuring reliable operation of all plant utility systems. This role combines hands‑on technical oversight with supervisory responsibilities to drive preventive maintenance, support process controllers, and contribute to utility‑related projects.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance for all utilities assets.
• Provide technical support to Utilities Process Controllers to maximise equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
• Conduct fault finding, troubleshooting and implement corrective actions.
• Manage contractors and support optimisation projects for utilities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality legislation.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to reduce downtime.
• Oversee departmental resources, overtime and leave planning.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years technical experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of industrial utility systems such as ammonia plants, CO₂ plants, boilers, water‑treatment, reverse‑osmosis, compressed‑air and wastewater management.
• Experience in FMCG manufacturing is an advantage.
• Good understanding of health & safety legislation and TPM principles.
