Tourism Inspector – Regulatory Role

About the role

The Tourism Inspector ensures that tourism establishments operate in compliance with Namibia's tourism legislation, licensing requirements and service standards. This position supports the NTB’s mandate to protect consumers, promote fair business practices and enhance overall service quality in the tourism sector.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine and ad‑hoc inspections of accommodation providers, tour operators, guides, transport services and attractions to verify licences, safety, hygiene and grading certifications.
• Enforce the Tourism Act, Consumer Protection Act and related by‑laws, issuing notices of non‑compliance and following up on corrective actions.
• Educate operators on regulatory requirements, licensing procedures and quality standards, especially in emerging and rural tourism businesses.
• Investigate consumer complaints, gather evidence, and prepare detailed investigation reports with recommendations for enforcement.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, compliance databases and case files, and produce regular reports for supervisory review.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in Hospitality or Tourism.
• Minimum five years of experience in the tourism industry, preferably with inspection or regulatory duties.
• Familiarity with Namibia’s tourism products and relevant legislation such as the Namibia Tourism Board Act and Regulations.
