System Administration Contractor

About the role

FNB is looking for a Contractor to support its IT operations by administering Windows and Linux server environments and managing virtual infrastructure. This temporary position ensures continuity of service delivery and high availability of critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Windows Server environments.
• Monitor and manage VMware vSphere/ESXi virtual infrastructure.
• Perform system installations, upgrades, and patch management.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and server‑related issues.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and Active Directory.
• Execute system backups and assist with disaster‑recovery processes.
• Monitor system performance and ensure high availability of IT services.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and changes.
• Provide technical support to internal users as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12; a certificate, diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science or related field is a plus.
• 1–2 years of experience in systems administration.
• 1–2 years of experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi administration.
• Experience administering Windows Server; Linux server experience is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of backup and recovery solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
