Software Support Engineer

About the role

The Software Support Engineer will ensure the stability and performance of critical business applications. You will act as the bridge between end‑users, development teams and external vendors, delivering proactive improvements and rapid issue resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain application configurations, user access and workflows.
• Log and clarify user issues, coordinating support between users, vendors and developers.
• Perform QA activities: write test cases, execute testing and investigate defects.
• Plan and execute production deployments, including go‑live runbooks and release management.
• Investigate complex incidents by analysing logs, databases, integrations and system behaviour.
• Monitor application performance, system jobs, interfaces and error logs, responding to failures.
• Develop and maintain data extraction scripts for BI reporting or ETL processes.
• Modify minor code, scripts, SQL queries or procedures and configure automation tools.
• Support auxiliary development tools such as Jira and Bitbucket.
• Maintain application installations and low‑level OS configuration files.

Required profile

• Excellent verbal and written communication with a collaborative mindset.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis abilities.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented and able to work under pressure.
• Understanding of the full software lifecycle from development to deployment.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt in an agile environment.

Required skills

• Intermediate Linux and Windows administration.
• SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Ability to read and modify basic application code or scripts.
• Understanding of APIs, integrations and data flows.
• Experience with BI reporting/ETL scripting.
• Familiarity with Jira and Bitbucket.
