Semi‑Skilled Technical Worker – Petrochemical Projects (SA/Namibia)

About the role

We are seeking dedicated semi‑skilled technical workers to support petrochemical projects across South Africa and Namibia. You will work under the supervision of qualified tradespersons, assisting with mechanical tasks in high‑risk industrial environments such as fuel storage depots and refineries.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in boiler making, welding, and pipe‑fitting tasks under supervision.
• Prepare materials and components for fabrication and assembly.
• Support the installation of piping, tanks, and structural components according to technical drawings.
• Perform basic measurements, cutting, grinding and fit‑up as required.
• Maintain clean, organised and safe work areas and adhere to all HSE regulations.
• Report unsafe practices, hazards or equipment faults immediately.
• Collaborate with mechanical teams, supervisors and QA/QC staff, communicating progress and material needs.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
• Valid Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry training certificates.
• Valid driver’s licence (advantageous).
• 1‑3+ years experience in tanks, piping or structures in industrial or petrochemical settings.
• Completed apprenticeship is highly advantageous.
• Prior experience in petrochemical, fuel terminal or high‑risk environments preferred.

Required skills

• Basic welding, cutting, grinding and fit‑up techniques.
• Mechanical assembly and support tasks in fabrication and piping works.
• Reading and assisting with technical and isometric drawings.
• Familiarity with ISO‑compliant QCPs, permit‑to‑work systems and HSE protocols.
• Working at heights and confined space entry procedures.
