Safety Officer (Keetmanshoop)

About the role

NamPower (Pty) Ltd invites candidates interested in the electricity supply industry to apply for a Safety Officer position in Keetmanshoop. The post reports to the Senior Safety Officer, sits in the Human Capital business unit and is at job grade 09. The incumbent advises on and guides the implementation of the company's Safety Programme within their area of responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with formulating and revising the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) programme.
• Develop and present occupational health and safety training courses and induction modules for all levels of employees.
• Identify unsafe acts and conditions, evaluate risks and recommend control measures.
• Help compile safe working procedures and method statements.
• Carry out planned and unplanned physical inspections across business units to find hazards and deviations from standards.
• Conduct SHE risk assessments with management and SHE representatives, attend SHE committee meetings and investigate incidents with line managers.
• Monitor compliance with statutory and other SHE requirements, conduct SHE inductions and run emergency drills.
• Manage contractors working on NamPower premises.

Required profile

• A relevant degree in Safety Management (NQF Level 7).
• Three years of experience in SHE management.
• Code 08 (BE) driver's licence.
