Manager: Tourism Industry Standards

About the role

The Namibia Tourism Board seeks a senior professional to lead the development, implementation and enforcement of national tourism standards. The Manager will ensure tourism establishments comply with legislation, uphold quality benchmarks and support sustainable sector growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the creation and rollout of tourism standards, inspection frameworks and certification schemes, and advise senior leadership on compliance matters.
• Oversee compliance inspections, enforcement actions and registration processes across all tourism categories, reviewing reports and coordinating follow‑up with legal and enforcement bodies.
• Collaborate with the Quality Assurance function to design product development initiatives and capacity‑building programmes for emerging and community‑based tourism enterprises.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government, private sector, NGOs and community groups, representing NTB at high‑level forums and media engagements.
• Plan, budget and allocate resources for the Tourism Standards Unit, monitoring performance and reporting on impact.
• Mentor and manage Senior Inspectors, fostering a performance‑driven team culture and identifying training needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7+) in Law or a related field; postgraduate qualification in quality management or standards development is an advantage.
• 8–10 years experience in tourism or hospitality, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of Namibian tourism legislation, regulatory frameworks and industry dynamics.
• Proven ability in regulatory enforcement, stakeholder engagement, team leadership and analytical/report writing.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with cultural sensitivity and fluency in English.
