Legal Advisor – Financial Services

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Legal Advisor to provide comprehensive legal support across its group of companies. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with legislation, managing litigation, and supporting product development within the financial services sector.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general legal advice and support to the Old Mutual Group on products, processes, and industry regulations.
• Coordinate and manage litigation matters, including general litigation and debt collection.
• Draft, review, and negotiate both external and internal contracts.
• Review and sign off on new or enhanced product offerings.
• Advise and train business units on relevant legislation and regulatory changes.
• Interpret new legislation, assess its impact, and ensure appropriate controls are in place.

Required profile

• Namibian citizenship.
• B Proc, LLB or higher qualification (minimum mandatory).
• Admission as a legal practitioner is an advantage.
• 2‑3 years of experience in the financial services industry or as a legal practitioner.
• Strong technical analysis and report‑writing abilities.
• Flawless command of the English language.
• Assertive self‑starter with excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong administration, organization, and conflict‑handling skills.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high service levels.
• Team‑player attitude.
