Junior Legal Advisor

About the role

The Junior Legal Advisor will support the Legal and Corporate Affairs Manager in delivering legal, regulatory, governance and corporate affairs services. This role involves contract management, compliance monitoring, corporate governance support, stakeholder engagement and legal research to ensure the organisation operates within applicable laws and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and provide advice on regulatory, commercial and operational matters.
• Draft, review, negotiate and manage contracts, agreements, policies and other legal documents.
• Support litigation, dispute resolution and liaise with external counsel.
• Monitor legislative developments, assess legal risks and maintain legal records and contract databases.
• Assist with statutory, regulatory and corporate governance compliance, including audits and risk assessments.
• Coordinate board, committee and shareholder meetings, prepare agendas, minutes and statutory filings.
• Support relationships with regulators, government bodies and industry stakeholders, and assist with corporate communications and CSR initiatives.
• Prepare management, legal and risk reports, track contract renewals and compliance deadlines.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a legal environment.
• Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent (NQF Level 8) and admission as an attorney.
• At least 2 years of post‑qualification legal experience.
• Commercial litigation or contract management experience is advantageous.
• Exposure to corporate governance, company secretarial work and post‑graduate legal qualifications (Honours, Masters, or higher diploma in tax/company law) is a plus.
