Funded traineeship in digital communication at EU Delegation to Namibia

About the role

The EU Delegation to Namibia offers a six‑month funded traineeship for recent graduates interested in international relations and diplomatic communication. The placement is within the Press, Political and Information Section and focuses on digital communication, media engagement and the promotion of EU green‑diplomacy initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Delegation’s social‑media channels – planning, drafting, publishing and monitoring audience engagement.
• Create digital assets, including graphics and short‑form videos, to highlight EU policies and the "Trees for Tomorrow" green‑diplomacy campaign.
• Assist in organising public‑diplomacy and media events, preparing communication material and providing on‑site coverage.
• Draft communication products such as press releases, web articles, speeches and talking points.
• Conduct targeted research to ensure communication outputs are relevant to the Namibian context.
• Contribute to EU coordination tasks and political reporting as needed.

Required profile

• University degree (minimum bachelor’s) in Political Science, Communication, Journalism, Media Studies or a related field.
• Less than one year of professional experience after graduation.
• Strong writing and storytelling abilities, with an aptitude for adapting messages to diverse audiences.
• Good understanding of Namibian society, media landscape and current affairs.
• Interest in environmental and climate‑related issues, particularly green diplomacy.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
