Finance Team Leader

About the role

As a Finance Team Leader at FNB, you will oversee a portfolio of non‑performing loans and high‑risk watchlist accounts, driving proactive interventions to minimise impairments and maximise recoveries. You will partner with the business to provide financial expertise, shape strategic decisions and embed digital, AI‑enabled finance practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead management of non‑performing loan portfolios and high‑risk accounts, ensuring timely interventions and file closures.
• Convert financial analysis into actionable business insights and forward‑looking performance steering.
• Build, challenge and stress‑test budgets, forecasts and scenario plans, linking outcomes to key business drivers.
• Analyse cost drivers, product, customer and channel profitability to improve efficiency and returns.
• Own and maintain performance dashboards covering financial and non‑financial metrics.
• Leverage emerging AI capabilities to enhance finance output speed, accuracy and usefulness.
• Maintain expert knowledge of IFRS, legislative changes and internal compliance procedures.
• Support year‑end external reporting, Board reporting and annual financial statement preparation.
• Ensure finance data governance, accuracy, reconciliation and suitability for decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.
• Completed articles (or equivalent professional qualification).
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data into strategic recommendations.
• Experience in managing loan portfolios, risk mitigation or related finance functions.
