Employee Relations Specialist

About the role

Join FirstRand Namibia Group as an Employee Relations Specialist and help shape a fair, compliant, and supportive workplace. You will work closely with business leaders to manage misconduct, grievances, disputes, and industrial relations matters, ensuring procedural fairness and minimizing legal risk.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement employee relations strategies aligned with organisational values and labour legislation.
• Analyse misconduct cases and recommend appropriate disciplinary actions.
• Investigate employee grievances, appeals, and industrial relations issues, providing fair and legally compliant resolutions.
• Chair and participate in disciplinary and grievance hearings, ensuring procedural and substantive fairness.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date employee relations case database and identify recurring risks or trends.
• Identify training needs, design and deliver employee relations training programmes.
• Recommend amendments to the Code of Conduct to reflect legislative changes.
• Support the business in reducing litigation exposure through sound case management.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Labour Relations, Industrial Psychology, Law, Human Resources or a related field.
• Proven experience handling employee relations, misconduct, grievance, and industrial relations matters.
• Strong knowledge of local labour legislation and best practice HR processes.
• Ability to investigate cases objectively and present clear, defensible recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
