Distribution Supervisor – Warehouse Operations

About the role

The Distribution Supervisor ensures that order specifications, quantities and quality are correct, verifies stock, identifies losses, and oversees equipment maintenance. The role also involves supervising warehouse staff such as pickers, loadmasters and invoicing personnel, and preparing deliveries in an orderly, effective manner while minimizing breakages.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Warehouse Manager in maintaining smooth operations through stock movement and rotation.
• Manage day‑to‑day people within the warehouse to meet company targets and customer requirements.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and drive continuous improvement.
• Provide a safe working environment in line with Health, Safety and Hygiene policies.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor receipt, storage and dispatch of goods.
• Supervise order picking, goods‑in and goods‑out operations to ensure accuracy and minimise damage.
• Organise regular stock takes and ensure stock accuracy in the warehouse management system.
• Control forklift operations and ensure equipment maintenance is performed promptly.
• Lead the team, coach daily and manage staffing levels to meet operational needs.
• Record and communicate shortages to Materials Management to prevent part shortages.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• At least five years of warehouse experience.
• Computer literacy with strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with data capturing, stock reporting and warehouse/material management systems is an advantage.
• Willingness to work odd hours and overtime when required.
• Disciplined approach and ability to work with minimal supervision.
