Lecturer – African Languages

About the role

The University of Namibia’s Rundu Campus is seeking a full‑time Lecturer in African Languages. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supervise student research, and contribute to the university’s scholarly output.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and tutorials for both on‑site and distance learners at bachelor and master levels.
• Develop and update curricula, including course materials for distance education.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate theses and projects.
• Engage in research, publish findings, and participate in academic conferences.
• Provide service to the academic community and broader public as required.

Required profile

• Master of Education specializing in African languages and Applied Linguistics.
• Ability to teach Rukwangali Language Education modules within the Bachelor of Education (Secondary Phase) programme.
• Minimum three years of tertiary‑level teaching experience with a proven record of teaching excellence, research, and publications.
• Commitment to community service and academic outreach.
• A PhD in a related field is an advantage but not mandatory.
